Using Apps for Learning Spanish to Make Learning Fast for Kids
July 16, 2021Using apps for learning Spanish may either seems like a “get rich quick” scheme to you. And it’s true, there’s no quick and easy way to learn a second language. If anyone is trying to sell you that, they might as well be selling you “ocean front property in Arizona.”
However, we should not discount technology in our language learning journey either! A high quality iOS or Android app to learn Spanish can enhance your child’s language learning journey in important ways. These apps work with a feature called Text Analytics API. It is a cloud-based service that provides advanced natural language processing over raw text.
Why should you use apps for learning Spanish?

Do you want your child to learn Spanish? Are you trying to teach him or her yourself? Are they taking Spanish classes? How much time can you devote to your child’s Spanish Language learning journey? Unless you can say they are being exposed to Spanish for at least 20 hours a week, you need to up the language input!
A great way to increase language input is by using a high quality app that teaches them Spanish, while making it fun and giving you a few minutes of “off time” while your at it!
Best iOS and Android Apps to learn Spanish
I am sharing some of our favorite apps for learning Spanish. *Full disclosure, one of these apps is one I personally work on. However, I have worked with this amazing team to create the best app possible for my own children to play and learn Spanish.
Favorite App for Infants and Toddlers
I am a big believer in no screen time for children under the age of 2! This is why I love My Mamalingua! This app is for parents to use with their young children. It will teach you common phrases that you can use in daily conversations with children. It’s great if Spanish is not your native language or if you’re simply looking for inspiration in your daily conversations.
The Best App for Children 3- 9 years old
Spanish Safari was especially designed with this age group in mind. It is a complete Spanish app that doesn’t just focus on a couple of games to review vocabulary. Instead, it has over 150 different games and lessons to teach Spanish in a fun and intuitive way. It uses spaced repetition, gradual immersion, and a compelling narrative to help children learn, practice and love Spanish!
Apps for Older Children and Teens
Once children are good readers, you can introduce them to some of the more common apps for language learning. Duolingo and Memrise rise to the top of the list. They are a great way to practice Spanish in a more serious and intentional way.
